Welcome Peter’s Well Drilling LTD.
We’re pleased to welcome Peter’s Well Drilling LTD. as the latest addition to the Derex dual rotary family. Serving communities throughout the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley, from Maple Ridge through Chilliwack and beyond, Peter’s Drilling has built a strong reputation for reliable water well drilling across a wide range of ground conditions.
As part of their continued growth, Peter’s Well Drilling recently added a Derex 1340-250 Dual Rotary to their fleet, a drilling method particularly well suited to the geology of the Fraser Valley.
Drilling Conditions Across the Fraser Valley
Much of the Fraser Valley is shaped by glacial history and river systems, leaving behind sand and gravel formations, often interbedded with silts and tills. These unconsolidated materials commonly host productive aquifers, but they can also present challenges during drilling, especially when maintaining borehole stability.
Contractors working throughout the Lower Mainland are familiar with these conditions. Loose sands and gravels can slough or collapse, particularly when drilling larger diameter holes, making formation control a critical part of successful well construction.
A Natural Fit for Dual Rotary Drilling
Dual rotary drilling is designed to handle exactly these types of formations. By advancing casing at the same time as the borehole is drilled, the formation is supported from surface to depth. This approach helps maintain hole integrity, improves control in unstable ground, and allows drilling to continue efficiently through variable materials.
For regions like the Fraser Valley, where ground conditions can change quickly over short distances, dual rotary offers a predictable and repeatable drilling process.
A Successful First Day
Peter’s Well Drilling put their new Derex 1340-250 DR to work on their first water wells shortly after delivery, successfully completing them with time to spare before supper. The first wells with a new rig is always an important milestone. The smooth drilling process and rapid access to water reinforced the value of dual rotary technology for the types of projects Peter’s Drilling regularly undertakes throughout the Lower Mainland.
